New Car: 2011 Hyundai ix20

IT'S official – Hyundai is crossing over into the supermini MPV class! These are the first official images of the firm's new ix20 compact people carrier, which will make its debut at the Paris Motor Show next month.

Sister car to the Kia Venga, the ix20 will go on sale in the UK on November 11 with a price tag of less than £12,500. It will rival models like the Honda Jazz and Nissan Note. Standard equipment will include air-con, stop-start, ESP and Bluetooth connectivity while Hyundai expects a maximum five star Euro NCAP safety rating.

As you can see the ix20 gets a look that takes some styling cues from Hyundai's recently refreshed and updated i30 hatchback with a hexagonal grille at the front. Under the bonnet, there will be a choice of 89bhp 1.4-litre petrol and diesel engines. The latter will boast CO2 emissions of 114g/km and return 65mpg. In addition, there will be a 125bhp 1.6-litre petrol variant available only with an automatic gearbox. For more details click here.
